Robbin Adams Art

My life has always revolved around art in one way or another. I grew up in Massachusetts and came to Plymouth State College to study art. I loved it so much up here that I decided to stay! I received my BFA in 1983 in printmaking with a concentration in drawing. You can see that love of drawing in my prints. I often combine drawings with printmaking. It is a lot of fun to make them work together.

I currently reside in Campton, NH with my husband Peter. We built a lovely home with a studio just for me! I’ll never overlook the fact that we live in a beautiful place. Our family has had years of adventures sailing (on Squam) hiking and cycling in Central NH and beyond. This area has, and will always be, a focus of my work: the landscapes, botanicals, lakes and the feelings of living in Central New Hampshire.

he printmaking process I use is called Foam Block Printing. Foam Block Printing is a fun process where I use foam plates or trays as your plate (I buy these in bulk, but you can save your meat trays from the market and clean them well and that is the same foam). Using any instrument, you would like you can draw into the plate, cut it up or just make impressions into the foam. I draw the image into the foam and often cut the plate into 2-3 pieces to make printing a little easier. Acrylic paint can be used underneath the print as a base that is painted onto the printing paper. Then I’m ready to print. This is done with a water based printing ink applied with a brayer, if I want to cover the whole plate, or a paint brush if I wish to print small areas. The I start printing layers until I achieve a finished print.

EXPERIENCE

I’ve lived in Central New Hampshire for more than half my life. During that time, I have had many shows, both solo and group, throughout the region. I also will do, and have done, a lot of commission work from drawings to prints, of homes or businesses, that portray that special view or just evokes that special feeling. I’ve been involved in Art Coops having fun working with a group of artists. Artists tend to work alone so it’s great to be in a group that gets me out and allows me to look at my work in a different way. I was first involved with the start up of Artist Roots. We started in Campton, NH but now are in a lovely store front on Main St. in Plymouth, NH. I was also instrumental in starting Squam Lake Artisan’s located in Center Harbor, NH.

REPRODUCTIONS VS. ORIGINAL PRINTS

My prints are one of a kind and are hand printed. The originals will be marked as 1/1. If a reprint is made from the original the prints will be marked as the number reprint with the total of prints made.

CONTACT ROBBIN

Please don’t hesitate to contact me. I love to talk about printmaking if you have a question you can call or email me. I will teach classes if you have a group of friends that would like to learn the process. A fun thing I did with a group of women just before the Holidays was to get them together in my living room and make Holiday cards using the Foam Block Printing Process. It was tons of fun and they had cards to send out after. I also do Commission work in Foam Block Printing or Graphite Drawings.
